The rich history of Domburg as a resort dates back to 1834, when the first visitors came to Domburg for a sea bath. Around 1910, Domburg flourished as a seaside destination, attracting visitors from all over Europe, many of noble or royal descent. Painters like Mondrian and Jan Toorop also lived and painted here during summer, drawn by the unique “Zeeland light.” The sea and the beach are the main reasons to visit Domburg.
